Home Firearm Safety is approximately a four hour course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and explains the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in your home. It is conducted in the classroom only so involves no shooting. An ideal course for families with children. Children under age 12 are free, accompanied by a paying adult guardian or parent.
Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms mishaps; firearm parts; how to unload a variety of pistols, rifles and shotguns with different action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage options; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in various shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety Handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules card, NRA New Shooters Guide brochure and a course completion certificate.
